THE GARDEN

The warrior kneels gently in the soft garden,
His sword lies quietly by his side…
For a moment he sees through different eyes,
His being focused on the beauty and tranquility…
A cherry blossom falls silently to the ground,
So too, a single tear…
For the joy of having known this moment
And the pain of knowing that it cannot last.
He wipes his eye and gathers his blade,
For that is his way…
The way of the warrior,
To serve, to endure.
But this moment shall stay with him a lifetime.
